The last session of the University of Southampton TPD for 2015-16 with pre-service science teachers, will take place on June 15th at the Lifelab facility (http://www.southampton.ac.uk/lifelab/), a science learning space located at University Hospital Southampton and managed jointly between the Faculty of Medicine and the Southampton Education School (University of Southampton).
In this session the University of Southampton team will be joined by a group of pre-service science teachers from UCL-IOE and their tutor, Ruth Amos. The two teams will engage collaboratively in SSIBL activities focusing on the concepts of epigenetics, obesity, healthy lifestyles and behaviours. The participating pre-service teachers will take part in hands-on activities focusing on ways of measuring health, and will then design classroom activities for secondary school pupils to engage them in socially-responsible inquiry about health and the science behind it.
