Work Package 4 (WP4) addresses the core project activities and tasks associated with developing and implementing teacher professional development (TPD) in SSIBL in upper secondary education (age 16-18) based on best practices available among the partners, who have existing TPD programmes at lower secondary level for formal and/or informal education.
This work package team focuses on both pre- and in-service teachers. It is led by the Weizmann Institute of Science and consists of eight partners (UU, Weizmann, MAH, ICETA-UP, UNIVIE, ENFA, UM and ELTE).
Collectively, 247 pre- and in-service teachers have participated in the WP4 TPD activities during the first round; 126 of these were pre-service teachers, and 121 in-service teachers. The teachers came from all science disciplines (i.e. biology, chemistry, physics, environmental science). The TPDs adopted the approach of teachers as learners, teachers as designers, and teachers as reflective practitioners. Each of the partners is in the process of collecting evaluation data which will be evaluated and used to revise the TPD course for the 2nd round of implementation.
